"IIf you concentrate on looking for the essence,
bits of stories gather and become a deeper continuum of life"
From some point, when eating, I started to look at the ingredients, manufacturers and how it is made. Especially I look at the origin where the ingredients came from. The reason is that if the chicken is from Brazil or the pork is from France it doesn’t feel delicious even though it looks and smells delicious. It’s called Sintoburi, right? Although it is a high quality ingredient, it is never better than the food that is born and raised form in its own land. When I was young I couldn’t understand why adults said domestic food is the best, but now I kind of do understand them. At some point I am starting to look more at the essence and the original character rather than appearances.
On the other hand, understanding and considering the area and the culture of others is as important as finding your own essence when it comes to experiencing the world. For example, when it comes to design, look and think from the perspective who needs it rather than your perspective. Then it will be a design that can see the light of the world. As I said earlier, finding the essence seems to apply on everything.
No matter how gorgeous and delicious the food looks, if the ingredient is bad, the taste becomes less. Even though, it is a visually beautiful product when it comes to craft, if the product itself does not contain a story and the maker’s effort it is just a paused object. Products that do not contain stories are nothing more than things that stop. In the relationship with a person, rather than 100 words to buy someone’s heart, one word with sincerity is more likely to be recognized.
Like this, finding the essence of food, the essence of craft, the essence of people, and so on is a journey of finding the essence of life. The essence here is not a profound thing, but it is getting to know more about it and understanding it better. And soon this becomes a process of finding the essence. I can say that the process of finding various essences itself is life. Around every moment if you concentrate on looking for the essence while not ignoring the small changes, bits of stories gather and becomes a deeper continuum of life.
